How LoadLog works
Five simple steps from sign-up to DEFRA submission. No paper, no hassle.
Sign up and enter your DEFRA API code
Create your LoadLog account in under two minutes. During onboarding, you'll be prompted to enter your DEFRA Digital Waste Tracking Service API registration code, which links your account directly to the government's waste tracking platform. If you haven't registered with DEFRA yet, we provide step-by-step guidance to help you obtain your code.
Create a waste transfer record
Open the LoadLog app on any device — desktop, tablet or smartphone. Fill in the waste transfer details: waste description, EWC codes, quantity, vehicle registration, carrier details and destination site. The form is designed to match DEFRA's required fields, so nothing gets missed. You can save drafts and come back later if needed.
Capture digital signatures
When the load is ready for transfer, the waste producer, carrier and receiver each sign directly on the device screen. These digital signatures are cryptographically bound to the WTN record and timestamped for full legal compliance. No paper, no printing, no scanning.
Auto-submit to DEFRA
With a single tap, LoadLog submits the completed Waste Transfer Note directly to the DEFRA Digital Waste Tracking Service via our secure API integration. You'll receive an instant confirmation with a unique DEFRA submission ID. If there are any validation issues, you'll see exactly what needs fixing before resubmission.
Download your PDF record
Every submitted WTN generates a professional PDF copy that you can download, print or email. These PDFs include all waste details, signatures, timestamps and the DEFRA submission reference. Perfect for your own records, compliance audits and sharing with stakeholders.
